Your home is almost always the largest investment you will ever make, and when making an investment on this scale you want to make the most out of every inch of space available – this is exactly what the owners of this detached, 4-bedroom property had in mind when approaching us with an idea to capitalise on space available to them on the right-hand side of their home.
The property, situated on a quiet road close to the main thoroughfare of the town of Basildon, originally held a patio and grass area to the side of the dwelling. The owners’ vision was to transform this area and extend their home to make an extra room, as well as extending their original kitchen in order to open up more space for comfortable cooking.
The additional room is used as a snug, a retreat area to read and relax without disturbances from the outside world (and the rest of the house!).
We at Invent Architecture & Design had a brilliant working relationship with the property owners, they were friendly, helpful, and very receptive to all of the design ideas which we offered them. After our detailed discussions with the owners on their specifications, our team designed a single-story extension with a flat roof, roof lanterns, and feature parapet wall with a coping stone detailing to improve the overall appearance of the roof.
